What is it about the July
Specials that excite me the most? That the Q-pon this month is Chicken
Bouillon! I'm in need of more bouillon, in the past I’ve cautioned people,
“Buy the size that best suits your family’s needs” never dreaming that my
family could use more than a Pantry sized can in the open shelf life term of
one year. But we have…and more. I’m striving to feed my family a more whole foods
diet. Since learning from Heather Lorimers blog, “Cooking with my Food
Storage”, that I could make
my own “cream of…” soups (a regular item in my ingredients list) I no
longer purchase the soy/MSG/sodium filled cans of condensed soups from the
grocery store. I’ve been making my own and find that the THRIVE vegetarian
bouillons lend themselves very well to flavoring my dishes without additives,
or preservatives.
A close second, contending for the most exciting (to me)
July special, is of course the Chopped
Chicken. The ingredients listed in this great product are: Chopped Chicken.
That’s all. Because it’s already prepared, and only needs rehydrating, I find
we go through a lot of the THRIVE chicken.
Looking over the items reduced this month my thoughts turned
toward the need to have a variety in our food stores. In her paper entitled,
“The Seven Major Mistakes in food Storage”, Vickie Tate wrote, “Most people
don’t have enough variety in their storage…We get tired of eating the same
foods over and over and many times prefer not to eat than to sample that
particular food again. This is called appetite fatigue. Young children and
older people are particularly susceptible to it. …Variety is the key to a
successful storage program.” Fuji
Apples, Asparagus,
Tomato
Dices are variances of what might typically be found in a food store and
good for you too! Adding Pearled Barley
and Instant
White Rice would create a variety in the grains stored.
Not found as part of the July
Specials, but continuing in the vein of variety in a food store, there are
a number of specially priced THRIVE Packages, available only through a
consultant. One of my favorite of these specialty packages is the Veggie
Variety Pack for just $67.25, it includes one #10 can of each of the following:
Broccoli (Freeze Dried)Potato Chunks
Sweet Corn (Freeze Dried)
Green Peas (Freeze Dried)
Carrot Dices
Chopped Onions (Freeze Dried)
That breaks down to just over $11.00 per can. Amazing!
To easily find what’s in the other specialty packs as well
as all other unadvertised specials, Debbie and Monty Abbott have created the
beautiful flyer found here: http://morethrive.com/img/UAS.pdf.
If you have questions about or would like to purchase any of these packages,
message me. (I love helping people get the best deals possible!)
To see where Chef Todd’s thoughts turned when the items for
July’s specials were assembled, watch “Thrive It Up”
Tuesday, July 9th at 7pm MDT. He’s promised to work some “salad magic” this
month. We’re extremely pleased to have a Chef Todd as a member of the Thrive
Life family.
If you’re working on building your 72 hr. kit or Go Bag, or
if backpacking is your thing, take a look at the Saguaro Tent
specially priced this month. It sleeps two (or one person and gear) and weighs
only 4 pounds. It comes with a rainfly that when attached creates a small
vestibule.
Thrive Life (formerly Shelf Reliance) had its start when the
founders created shelving that rotated the food stored within. This month the
shelving unit on special is The Pantry 72.
It stands 72” tall and is 24.5 inches in both width and depth. The can width is
adjustable, so it has the capacity to hold up to 280 cans.
The Q
is the Thrive Life answer to building a home store on a budget and avoid going
into debt. Like Netflix (but for food); when you sign up on the Q, or join the
Q-club at the monthly budget of your choice, you choose and line up the items
you’d like to purchase, the date you’d like each purchase to be made each
month, and the shipment is sent straight to your door!
The Smart
Start 200 is just one way to begin or enhance your Q with a budget of $200
a month, but more importantly, it’s a teaching tool for naturally rotating your
food store, and giving practical hands on practice for the adage, “Eat what you
store, store what you eat”. It includes:
• 66 THRIVE
products in 3 Q shipments at a $200 budget• A booklet of 38 recipes for delicious main dishes and sides
• Meal planners and shopping lists for easy meal prep
July is also “Most for the Host” month. Hosting a party in July comes with an extra incentive. Parties that close by July 31st having sold at least $200 in product, gain the host an opportunity to purchase an additional item valued at up to $500 for half-off, in addition any other host benefits gained. This includes “virtual parties”. If you’d like to “host” a party over the internet or by phone this month, you may be able to purchase that big ticket item sitting on your wish list for half of its retail price. Call me to “open” your party and we’ll work together to turn your wish into reality.
Have fun building your home store!
